Access, reception and reference

Access to the Library and reference use of its holdings are open to the entire University of Bologna community and to all external users, provided they are over 18 years of age.

Access

Entry is granted with a university badge for members of the University of Bologna, and with an identity document for external users.  

 The opening hours are as follows:

  • from Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 12 am.
  • Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 6 pm 

Services close 15 minutes before the Library closes.

During July/August and December/January the timetable may be subject to changes, which are posted on the homepage.

Reception

At the Welcome Desk it is possible to obtain information on the services offered. Users can:

  • request information about the Library’s services and resources
  • register to access services
  • borrow or return books
  • collect books and documents requested through inter-library loan
  • request information on support available for bibliographic searches, for managing and compiling bibliographies
  • obtain information on printing and scanning services
  • register to access the Learning Commons, a shared space available for study and learning, including collaborative activities

Reference

Most of the library material is located on open shelves, and can therefore be consulted freely and independently. All books and journals available in the reading rooms may be freely consulted and must be placed on the designated trolleys after use.

Material kept in storage may be consulted upon request at the loans desk or by sending an e-mail
